Privacy Policy

This policy explains how we process personal data in accordance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Austrian Data Protection Act (DSG).

1. Data controller

The service is currently operated by a natural person; registration as a sole trader (Einzelunternehmen) is in preparation.

2. What data we process and why

• Email address (waitlist) — to notify you about the launch and, once available, to send alerts about new listings or a daily digest. Legal basis: your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). You can withdraw consent at any time via the unsubscribe link.
• Uploaded PDF content — if you use the rental-contract check, to perform the AI-based analysis of your contract. Legal basis: performance of the service you requested (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR). Files are stored only temporarily and deleted automatically within 24 hours.
• IP address and server logs — processed as technically required to deliver and secure the website (including rate limiting against abuse; the rate limit is held in memory only and not persisted). Legal basis: our legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

3. Recipients and processors

• Railway — hosting infrastructure in an EU region.
• Cloudflare — CDN and security, and temporary storage of uploaded files (Cloudflare R2, EU), deleted automatically after analysis.
• Anthropic — performs the AI analysis (only when you use the contract check). Processing may take place in the United States on the basis of the EU Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs).

No payment service providers are used, as the service is free during the beta and no payments are processed.

4. Retention

Your email address is kept until you unsubscribe or withdraw consent. Uploaded PDF content is deleted automatically within 24 hours. No other personal data is stored permanently.

5. Your rights

You have the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection, and the right to withdraw consent at any time. To exercise any of these, email legal@mietscan.app.

6. Right to lodge a complaint

You have the right to lodge a complaint with the Austrian data protection authority (Datenschutzbehörde): dsb.gv.at.

7. Cookies

We use only technically necessary cookies. We do not use tracking cookies or any analytics or advertising services.

8. No automated decision-making

The AI analysis provides a non-binding, informational assessment. We do not carry out automated decision-making that produces legal effects concerning you or similarly significantly affects you.
